Born in Newmarket, UK, James attended university at Nottingham Trent University with a BA in Fine Art. His father and grandfather were dedicated craftsmen and cabinetmakers who showed him what was possible in woodworking. He moved to Los Angeles in 2008 and began working on films with Stan Winston Studios, starting with Iron Man and Avatar with James Cameron. In 2009, Stan Winston Studios became Legacy Effects. James continued working there for another 8 years, racking up credits for high budget films, television and commercials and gaining more experience and design credentials. and gaining membership with the Screen Actors Guild. When James and Amber met in 2017, his passion for woodworking was reignited and Nomad Furniture Design was born.
